The foldable chair is a wonderful thing. It can be brought along with you, so that you may enjoy the exact spot of your choosing in heightened comfort. I wonder why we have never gotten the idea to permanently have a chair in everyday life.
Imagine how different waiting for public transportation would look like if everyone brought their own chair.
How would waiting in line look like? Would there be any complaints about waiting at all? On the contrary, a faster moving line would potentially spoil the comfort!
When looking deeper into the meaning that these foldable chairs could bring, it is useful to understand what constitutes their success. Largely, they give us support. They enable us to be elevated, off the ground, while maintaining a proper position. Are we even made to stand up on two legs?
This is easy for me to say, I am a floating metaphysical entity. But you people, you look tormented. Such an act of balance, so dreadful that you yourself need to recharge your energy in a horizontal position. Most pleasurable experiences in a humans life are done in any position but on two legs.
I am drifting off, as you do, when philosophising about humans.
The chair is not only supportive but moveable, and even more convenient, foldable. It can have little impact on daily life but blissful consequences. There are not many physical options in life with this price-performance ratio.
So in the end, we should always seek for reciprocity in life. The foldable chair brings us support, comfort. It de-stresses, soothes. Without taking much space or cramping life.
So why don’t we become foldable? Not forever, just a tiny bit. See when someone needs a chair, fold yourself a bit. Maybe they just need an armrest, not a whole chair. Let’s fold.
